Economic Development Reveals 2012 Industry Tree

Summerville, South Carolina

December 6, 2012 – Yesterday morning
at the December meeting of the Dorchester County Industrial Council (DCIC),
Economic Development staff revealed this year’s Industry Tree to upper level
management representatives from among the County’s industrial base. Four years in the making, this holiday
tradition serves as a fun and creative way to display products that are made
right here in Dorchester County. Each
year, industries are asked to provide "ornaments" to best represent the goods
that they manufacture. Decorated with
sparkling white lights, the tree is complete with company logos and a variety
of unique "ornaments." Larger models,
products, and replicas are displayed as presents beneath the tree.

The 2012 Industry
Tree can be found during the month of December in the lobby of the Greater
Summerville-Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at 402 North
Main Street in Summerville. Not only is
this a festive way to celebrate the season, but the tree will also receive a
great deal of exposure from this location.

A company directory
is also on display to list the 80+ industries that call Dorchester County
home. The directory contains a brief
description of each industry, as well as the products and services they
provide.

"Decorating this
tree each year has become a well-loved tradition for our industries. It not only provides them with an opportunity
to show pride in what they do, but it also offers a unique marketing
opportunity for their business," said Wendy Smith, Existing Industry Manager of
Dorchester County Economic Development.
