A Dream Come True for
St. George Residents
St. George, S.C. – Just in time for
everyone to begin their New Years’ Resolutions, St. George will become home to
the newest health and fitness facility in the area. Palmetto Elite Fitness,
owned by Crystal Hartzog, will open on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Hartzog
recalls when there used to be a gym in St. George which was over 13 years ago
where she worked as an aerobics instructor. “It’s been a dream of mine for a
couple of years and we are so excited it is finally happening”.
The
word about Palmetto Elite has been buzzing through the small towns of Upper
Dorchester County and residents are excited to see this new business that is
desperately needed for the residents. Hartzog’s partner, Jack Wimberly, says as
a first responder in the area, the gym has always been a dream for him as well.
“We want public safety personnel to have the same opportunities for health and
wellness as those that have closer access to facilities like this. The goal is
for them to stay in better shape and ultimately provide better service to our
citizens when responding to emergencies without having to travel 15 or more
miles to a health facility”, says Wimberly.
This
fitness center has a complete gym including, but not limited to; free weights,
cardio machines, 9-piece circuit, and an outdoor functional fitness facility
that can be used for group fitness. PEL is also offering classes such as yoga,
Zumba, senior fitness, body attack, high interval intensity training (HIIT),
and an “anything goes” class which provides a variety workouts changing each
week.
The
trainers at the gym are Cathy Lawter who
specializes in seniors and weight management; Eugene Smith, specializing in
athletes and muscle building, Tracy Strickland, specializing in yoga and
personal training, and Bailey Fender, a group fitness instructor. Lawter and
Smith are also offering one-on-one sessions and small group workouts.

Elite Fitness is located at 852 Highway 15 North, just outside of town limits. You

The open house for PEF is this Saturday, December 19th at 11 AM
