Summerville, South Carolina

April 20, 2009 – In an effort to build partnerships between the existing
industries of Dorchester County, Dorchester County Economic Development recently
formed the Dorchester County Industrial Council (DCIC). The group held its first meeting on March 31,
2009.

"It is important for industries to work collaboratively,"
commented Andy Gresham, Plant Manager of Raisio Staest, USA, Inc, and council co-chair. "The Industrial Council offers an opportunity for management teams to come
together, communicate and build mutually-beneficial partnerships."

The group is open to the management teams of all Dorchester
County industries and manufacturers. 
DCIC will hold its next meeting on May 21, 2009, at 7:30 a.m. The
meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester
County Chamber of Commerce, located at 402 North Main Street in Summerville.

Scarth MacDonnell, Plant Manager of Lafarge NA, Inc, and
co-chair noted that, "A strong, unified voice is critical for the industrial
and manufacturing community. The concept
of the Council has received a very positive response. The progress we made at our first meeting was
very positive, and we invite other industry leaders to take part."  

Dorchester County Council Chairman Jamie Feltner added, "Council understands how important the continued success of our existing
industry is to the economic vitality of Dorchester County. It is exciting to see industry leaders come
together in support and cooperation."
