Registration for 3rd Annual Tri-County STEMersion Program Opens February 1, 2020

Registration for 2020 Tri-county STEMersion, a two-week, hands-on program connecting middle and high school STEM instructors to the region’s industries, opens February 1 and closes on February 29, 2020.

Space is limited to 40 Tri-County middle and high school STEM instructors who will be be selected to participate in STEMersion 2020, which runs June 8-11 and 15-18, 2020. This program is designed to tie the world of work to classroom lessons through the inclusion of competencies of local industries, increased knowledge of career options and emphasis on the skill needs of industries.

During the two-week program, educators will visit up to two companies per day where they will receive hands-on learning experience about the math, science and soft skills required for the  Tri-County’s workforce and economic growth. Lesson plans based on these specific skills will be prepared for educators to take back into their classrooms.

Hosting companies will provide industry professionals for on-site half or full day sessions comprised of the following activities:

  • 30-45 minute tour or detailed discussion of workflow process
  • presentations and hands-on experiences
  • lunch with candid workforce/talent development discussion

STEMersion provides a stipend up to $1,000 for educators who complete the work-based learning experiences, create lesson plans from those interactions and agree to integrate the new knowledge into their classrooms.
