Wendy Smith Receives 2014 Palmetto Youth
Connections Partner of the Year

Wendy Smith, Existing Industry
Manager for Dorchester County, has been awarded the 2014 Palmetto Youth
Connections Community Partner of the Year.  This award is given annually
to a community partner in recognition of their assistance in mentoring and
guiding students as they work to develop life and workforce
skills.   

Palmetto Youth Connection is a
Community Partnership focused on serving out-of-school youth ages 16 to 21 by
providing assistance to complete a high school education or upgrade basic
skills, train for a career, enter into paid internships or On-the-Job training
opportunities, receive financial assistance for certificate or diploma courses
with local colleges as well as other career building opportunities. 

“It has been very rewarding to
work with these students and help them to realize their potential.  The
assistance and support offered through Palmetto Youth is amazing.  Their
guidance makes a substantial impact in the lives of many students ready for a
fresh start.  It is an honor to work with them,” says Smith.
